One of the leading publications of the German Press Handelsblatt made a story about Sabanci Holding Chairperson Guler Sabanci in its series “Women Managing the Economy” appearing in the “Unternehmen & Märkte” supplement of the newspaper. The article was a full-page story based on an interview by Gerd Hoehler with Guler Sabanci.

In the story, various aspects were discussed, such as the position of Guler Sabanci in the business world, the importance she attached to the social responsibility activities, objectives for the Sabanci Group, approach exhibited by the founder of the Group Haci Omer Sabanci.

Guler Sabanci was defined at the introduction of the story as “the most successful woman in Turkish economy today. The economy magazine Fortune puts her in the eighth place among the strongest women in the world. She is running one of the biggest holdings in Turkey.”

The story also said about the fact that the Sabanci Group was managed by a woman, “According to the view of many analysts of Istanbul, ‘she is the very right person.’ After Guler Sabanci became the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Sabanci Holding has been breaking records year by year. ‘She is more successful than most of the men I know,’ says a female banker, ‘she works tooth and nail.’ And she means this with utter confirmation. ‘She delegates authority, is a good team player, yet requests swift decisions,’ says an ex-employee of hers.” While it was stated that she was deemed as the strongest woman of Turkey, the words of Sabaci; “But, I prefer being called the “most successful woman of Turkey. I do absolutely believe in the power of success” were emphasised.

About the differences between the female and male managers, the story contained the following words of Guler Sabancı: “I do not know if women have specific advantages. I can only speak for myself: I am of the opinion that my power lies in making clear analyses, and setting clear targets for the team.
